My Mother, Mattie Pearl Mitchell Gore, Was Also A Quilter
My mother was also a prolific quilter and made many quilts to warm her family. She was born September 28, 1921 in Supply, North Carolina. She is a descendant of John Jack Bryant and Holland Lancaster Bryant, who were slaves of Jessie Lancaster. Her paternal grandparents were Charity Bryant and Jim Mitchell. Her father married Rowena Price, the daughter of Tony and Sarah Price. She was the sixth child of John and Rowena. Mattie’s brothers and sisters were: John Sanders, Nettie, Evangeline, Josie, Waymon Langston, and Lillie Francis.
Below, are three pictures of her quilts.
