Hi and welcome to Stitching and Stirring!
Stitching and Stirring is a home based quilting service owned and operated by me, Marilyn Y. Gore, a life-long quilter who has stitched literally hundreds of quilts. I hold a BS and MS in Family Consumer Sciences (formerly known as Home Economics) with a concentration in Clothing and Textiles from Bennett College and Howard University, respectively. After a 31-year career as a Family and Consumer Science Area Agent with the Cooperative Extension Service, I retired to follow my passion for quilting. Stitching and Stirring is dedicated to the preservation of quilts and the art of quilting with special emphasis on quilts that represent the African American culture and history.
Small business collaboration!!!
Stitching and Stirring along with Seaside Memorial Memories are now creating custom picture cosmetic bags. These would be great for Mother’s Day, a bridal party…the possibilities are endless. Please allow 4 weeks for production.
These are some of the quilts that I have made over the years and would like you to see the depth of my work.
Stitching and Stirring pledges to provide quality, creative machine pieced and hand quilted traditional and crazy quilts and hand quilting services. Stitching and Stirring is dedicated to the preservation of quilts and the art of quilting with special emphasis on quilts that represent the African American culture and history.

Wonderful, my mom was a great quilter, I am not, she left me two tops to be completed, can you help with that ???

So good to hear from you as always. Thanks so much for the birthday blessing. I miss you and your family also. I will be glad when we can finally get together again.
Your work is so impressive. I like your style of quilting and creativity, great job.
Are you showing your work anywhere? I would love to see your work.
I saw the article about you in “Coastal Buzz.” I admire you.
I also learned to sew with my mom and then took Home Economics. I studied Textile Technology at NC State but since then I only pick up needle and thread for maintenance and repair and a few projects in my household.
If you maintain an event schedule or a newsletter, please include me in the distribution.
Sorry it has taken a moment to reply. Thanks for your note. I am on Facebook and Instagram and that is where I post a lot of pictures and information about my quilts. I really need to start a blog or something in that manner.
